Ezzeddine SAIDI, President

Ezzeddine Saidi is Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabes. He obtained his Ph.D. on EFL teacher education from the University of Carthage, Tunisia. He wrote several articles on EFL teaching pedagogy, teacher training, language-in-education planning and policy, and language testing, and he co-edited a collection of essays entitled Re-visiting Context (2014). He was resident scholar at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington, D.C., and participated in several academic programs at Syracuse University in New York, Simmons College and Tufts University in Boston, and The American University in Washington, D.C.

Yassine NAJJAR, Secretary General

Yassine Najjar teaches British and American literature at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabès. He obtained a Master’s degree in Literature from the Faculty of Manouba. He is a Ph. D. candidate and his dissertation is based on an aesthetic reading of the works of the contemporary American writer, Don DeLillo. He was a visiting scholar at New York University, Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) as a 2012 CEMAT grantee. He participated in several national and international conferences and his main research interests are in contemporary American fiction and postmodernism.

Abdelhamid RHAIEM, Treasurer

Abdelhamid Rhaiem is Assistant Professor of English literature at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabes. He has participated in a good number of national and international conferences and has written several articles on the fiction of Virginia Woolf, gender rights, and the teaching of literature in the EFL classroom. In 2013, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Louisville, Kentucky where he attended seminars on contemporary American literature. His research interests mainly include modern British novel, feminist writings, gender studies and travel literature.

Jawhar Ahmed DHOUIB, Member

Jawhar Ahmed Dhouib is Assistant Professor of English at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabes, where he teaches Critical Literary Theories, Anglophone Literatures and Diaspora Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Liège, Belgium and the University of Sfax, Tunisia. His main research interests are in Postcolonial Studies, Anglophone Caribbean diaspora and contemporary black writing in Britain. He has co-edited a collection of essays entitled Re-visiting Context (2014). His latest publications include “Textual Transformations in Contemporary Black Writing in Britain” (2014) and “The Odyssey of the Black Diaspora: A Re-vision of the Middle Passage Episode” (2014).

Rahma DAOUED REBAI, Member

Rahma Daoud Rebai teaches British and American civilization at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabès. She holds the "Agrégation " from The University of Letters and Humanities Manouba. She is currently preparing her PH.D. in the field of Cultural Studies on the issue of American Cultural Diversity.

Mouna ZLITNI BEN AISSA, Member

Mouna Zlitni Ben Aissa teaches American and Anglophone Civilization at the Higher Institute of languages, University of Gabes. She holds a PhD on American Colonial History from Sorbonne University, France. Her main research interests include the History of 17th century America, American Indian History, Indian-White relations and Interaction. She has participated in an exchange graduate student program at Brown University in Rohde Island and presented several articles at different national and international conferences.

Yasmina BEN M’BAREK, Member

Yasmina Ben M’barek teaches British and American literature at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabès. She has graduated from l’Ecole Normale Supérieure and she obtained her Agrégation degree from The University of Mannouba. Her research interests mainly include African American literature, feminist writings and the literature of minorities.

Sayfeddine MOHAMED, Webmaster

Sayfeddine Mohamed is Assistant Professor of English Linguistics at the Higher Institute of Languages, University of Gabes. He has participated in various national and international conferences and has written several articles on Discourse and Media Studies. His main research interests include E-learning, Media practices and ELT. He was a visiting scholar at the school of Media and Journalism, Ohio University where he gave lectures on the language of the Media.
